Media Text Analysis - Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again (Movie Poster)

Media Text Analysis

This form of media text is a movie poster, which has the primary purpose of promoting the film using typical codes and conventions. Two examples of codes and conventions include the release date and the display of all the main cast members of the film.

The July release date connotes that it is set around summer time and it may attract a bigger audience as many people are on holiday around this time of the year and it can make you feel happy. The advantages of displaying the main cast members of the film will attract fans of these actors so if you are a fan of Meryl Streep or Pierce Brosnan or the singer Cher, it may encourage their fans to go and see the film.

The target audience would be a mix of young & old people. Young people would want to watch to see the sun as it is a summer film and it contains a lot of singing which can make you feel good. Whereas, older people may want to watch because it stars a large number of older, more mature actors such as Julie Walters, Meryl Streep, Cher and Pierce Brosnan and they may watch because they are just simply a fan

The primary function of this poster would be to promote the film positively and persuade them to go and see the film.
